Each speech act is a little bit like a brief, informal performance – a performance in which I tell you to do something, a performance in which I enter into a legal contract with you, a performance in which I ask you for information, a performance in which I provide information, and so on. Rows in past transaction time are excluded from consideration by normal temporal queries, ones which specify either no time or only valid time. . It must be unambiguous to be a statement. Rows in conventional tables are implicitly about what things are like right now. The notion of what is conveyed by an utterance despite not being explicitly said, is no longer identified with Gricean implicatures: instead a distinction is drawn between an implicature and an explicature [Sperber and Wilson, 1986], where the explicature amounts to the parts of the message that the hearer gets non-inferentially, despite the fact that they are not part of the literal meaning of the utterance (a typical example is the information extracted from the context such as the unpacking of the “around the corner” into a pointer to the specific corner determined by the particular situation of utterance).
