Well my SM7b must be defective then, because with the presence switch on the back it has alot of HF.. and imho it's actually a really excellent mic that is far less harsh than most chinese vocal-oriented condensor mics, although it can do wiht a speck of de-essing (as can some classic vintage c-12 mics for point of reference).
